POETRY | SHORT FORM

Language as Offering. Reflection as Art.

Poetry is one way I listen more deeply to myself, the Earth, and the quiet movements within and around us.

I write poems when prose won’t do—when something ineffable needs form but not too much, when emotion must breathe, when a truth comes softly and deserves to arrive gently.

Through poetry, I explore themes of nature, love, grief, joy, transformation, and the unseen ties that bind us all. These are meditations, offerings, and moments of stillness captured in motion.

Some of these works are shared here for the first time. Others are forthcoming. This is a living space. One that will grow over time. I offer a single piece that speaks to the spirit behind it all.

My Ode to Nature: A Message of Love

By Matthew King

When I think of you,
I am absorbed—
drawn into the hush of your breath,
the bloom of your becoming.
You move through me—
not with thunder,
but with a whisper that wakens wonder.
You are calm and wild,
stillness wrapped in motion.
You fulfill me.

With you, I am light—
laughing, glowing,
a spark in the rhythm of your grace.
You grant me a joy that doesn’t ask to be earned—
gracious, effortless,
like breeze on open skin.

You bring me home to myself.
Composed in your presence,
quieted by your beauty,
I soften—
every edge undone.
You inspire me to ask better questions,
to look again,
to feel wholly.

You are the depth I seek
and the freedom I crave.
In your light,
I remember what it means to love
without reason or reward.
You make me porous,
mellow,
whole.

I am dazzled by your joy.
I want to fall—
into your arms,
into your rivers,
into the hush before the sun cracks the sky.
No word can name you,
yet I try,
again and again,
because love always tries.

With you, I become—
alive in color,
softened by sky.
You meet me in silence
and sing to something ancient in my blood.
You remind me:
peace is not a prize—
it is a remembering.

You exhilarate me.
I am bathed in your vastness,
the sea I see and the sea I am.
You enfold me,
not to tame me—
but to set me free.

Spellbound, I listen.
You say nothing.
And in your stillness,
I hear everything.

With you, I need nothing more.
There is no longing,
only being.
No pretending,
only presence.
You are love without edges.
And when I walk with you,
I am alive.
In Nature.
