Performing in Twelfth Night, by William Shakespeare

The Upstart Crow continues it’s monumental 35th season with Shakespeare’s favorite comedy Twelfth Night, or What You Will. The Upstart Crow has been presenting the Boulder community with tremendous works of theater since 1980. Already this season they have performed Arsenic and Old Lace and Juno and the Paycock, now they start the new year by returning to the Bard with Twelfth Night.

Viola has been stranded by a sea storm on the coast of Illyria. Believing herself bereft of her twin brother by that same storm, and without protection, she disguises herself as a eunuch. In this disguise she puts herself in the service of the Duke and unintentionally finds herself mixed in local love affairs. Sent to the Countess Olivia’s house, to plead for her new master’s unrequited love, she soon becomes the object of that lady’s misguided affections. The unfortunate Viola has in turn fallen deeply in love with the Duke. This knot cannot be untied by time alone, as Viola hopes. No, one needs fools, retired pirates, pompous servants, idiotic knights and drunken kinsmen to complete this story. Come join us at the Dairy Center starting February 13th through February 28th, to see how the plot unfolds.

The cast of Twelfth Night included: Deanna Amacker, Richard Bell, Louis Clark, Galen Cunningham, Dan Doherty, Jeffery William Hill, Matthew Wilburn King, Gillian Riley Nogeire, John M. Ochner, Dana Padgett, Kristy E Pike, Katherine Dubois Reed and Ashley Margaret Waterman.
