University of Tulsa to Host a Free Public Talk by Dr. Matthew King on Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and the Future of Capitalism

Tulsa, OK – October 10, 2024—The University of Tulsa is proud to host an insightful and thought-provoking evening on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., featuring Dr. Matthew King, Founder and CEO of Our COMMON Foundation. A public talk on “Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and the Future of Capitalism” will be held at the Collins College of Business, ONEOK Auditorium, 2900 E 5th St. Tulsa, OK 74104.
Matthew King is a bold writer, creative advisor, and fearless explorer who has traveled and immersed himself in diverse cultures in over 45 countries. He started from humble beginnings in West Tulsa and went on to attend Cambridge University. As a pioneering leader, King has dedicated his career to advising social and environmental entrepreneurs, artists, and conservationists who strive to make a positive social and environmental impact. His work has influenced governments, businesses, and thought leaders across the globe.
This event will explore the critical need for capitalism to evolve in the face of modern challenges, including economic inequality, social injustices, and environmental degradation. From King’s extensive global experience, he will discuss how personal and collective empowerment must be at the heart of capitalism’s future. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how our economic systems can adapt to meet the needs of people and the planet.
“Capitalism’s future hinges on its ability to empower others for the benefit of people, the planet, and peace,” said King. “We’re at a crossroads. Some people think we should ditch capitalism. Instead, we must ask: How can capitalism evolve to serve people, the planet, and peace?”

About Matthew King
Matthew King is the CEO of Our COMMON Foundation, a Marshall Memorial Fellow with the German Marshall Fund, and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. He has traveled to over 45 countries, lived in five, and completed learning expeditions across the globe. His work empowers social entrepreneurs, artists, and conservationists to drive meaningful societal and environmental changes.
